“During the pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings initiated on the organization and conduct of voting in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on January 16, 2014 for bills aimed at preventing peaceful protests, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine on February 26, 2015 notified the former People’s Deputy of Ukraine of suspicion and the Secretary of the Accounting Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or official position), Part 2 of Article 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” says the According to the press service of the Ministry.
As stated in the GPU, Gordienko “was the secretary of the Accounting Commission of the Verkhovna Rada and, together with other members of the commission, signed its protocol, which actually gave the status of an official document to these laws.”
“The investigation has reason to believe that these laws were practically not voted on,” the report emphasizes.
Today, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention. The bail amount is set at UAH 100 thousand.

Sergei Gordienko is one of the effective and respected members of the Communist Party of Ukraine. He was part of a group of deputies who, in the summer of 2013, initiated the collection of signatures for holding an all-Ukrainian referendum on Ukraine’s accession to the customs union.
