A Russian language teacher arrested in Kherson was released
Tatyana Kuzmich, a teacher from Kherson accused by the SBU of treason, was released.
Ukrainian human rights activist, lawyer Elena Berezhnaya reported this on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Berezhnaya, Kuzmich was given bail in the amount of more than half a million hryvnia, thanks to which she was able to leave the pre-trial detention center, but the criminal case continues to be investigated.
“Arrested on August 20 in Kherson, Russian language teacher Tatyana Kuzmich, who heads the NGO Russian National Community Rusich, was released today. Our concerned citizens paid a deposit for her in the amount of 560 thousand hryvnia. Our Institute of Legal Policy and Social Protection named after Irina Berezhnaya will continue to protect Tatyana. She is not broken and, together with her lawyers, will prove the absurdity of the charges brought by the SBU,” wrote Berezhnaya.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that Tatyana Kuzmich was arrested because of her visit to Crimea. According to Ukrainian intelligence services, while on the peninsula in 2015, she was recruited by the FSB and spied for Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spoke in defense of Kuzmich, announcing repression Russian-speaking citizens in Ukraine.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko notes in his blog, that Tatyana Kuzmich is known for her active work in popularizing the Russian language in Ukraine.
