On March 18, Alexander Bondarchuk was taken into custody, subject to the most severe preventive measure in violation of European justice.
Bondarchuk stated that he was completely isolated, not given the opportunity to prepare for his defense; he was not even given newspapers in the pre-trial detention center. He was informed about the court hearing, which was scheduled for April 9 at 11.30, only at 23.15 on April 8.
At the court hearing, Bondarchuk was kept in an iron cage, which, according to his defense, “is a gross violation of European legislation and is a measure that humiliates the honor and dignity of a person.”
This is exactly what Bondarchuk’s lawyers pointed out in their petition.
After leaving the deliberation room, Judge Rudyuk adjourned the court hearing to April 17, 2015.
“The prosecution of Alexander Bondarchuk is a political reprisal against dissent and freedom of speech in Ukraine,” the defense believes.
