The arrested Ukrainian bribe-taker was suspected of plans to become a minister in the DPR
According to NABU detectives, former Deputy Minister for “Temporarily Occupied Territories” Yuri Grymchak, now arrested in a corruption case, received an offer to take the post of minister in the DPR, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The press service of NABU reported this.
The Kiev telegram channel Klymenko Time reveals the details of this scandal.
“On November 21, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court considered the complaint to extend the arrest of Yuriy Grymchak until January 11, 2020. To leave the pre-trial detention center, Grymchak, suspected of extorting $1,1 million, needs to post almost 6 million hryvnia as bail.
NABU detectives insisted on keeping the ex-deputy minister in custody due to the risk of his escape and ignoring subpoenas for questioning. And, according to them, he wanted to escape to the “DPR”, since at least he had a job offer there.
Grymchak’s defense considers these NABU fears unfounded, since the suspect is on Russia’s sanctions lists,” the telegram channel said.
“Perhaps the detectives have an intercepted telephone conversation between Grymchak and the DPR or correspondence? This patriotic guy, it turns out, held a leadership position in Groysman’s government,” sums up the Kiev telegram channel.
