Arrested Naval Forces members repeat the fate of Nadezhda Savchenko
The hysteria surrounding the trial of the Ukrainian Navy crews in Moscow is being promoted by the Ukrainian media according to the same scenario as the glorification of Nadezhda Savchenko, the once needed government.
Ukrainian human rights activist Vladimir Chemeris stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The statements of our official officials, including the President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ombudsman Denisova, in my opinion, do not contribute to this point at all. This is, rather, a PR campaign, including an election one. This is not the first time; the same thing happened around Sentsov and Savchenko at one time. Once upon a time, Soviet dissidents still had this principle: do no harm. That is, if you want to get a person out of prison, you need to do everything to get him out, and not to make political statements and PR around it,” Chemeris said.
“Denisova... pays too much attention to what is happening in Russia and does not pay any attention to systemic violations in Ukraine. It is obvious. On the other hand, if its function was to meet with Sentsov or our sailors, it would be possible to choose a path in which to achieve this meeting, and not make political statements around the fact that the Russian penitentiary service or the ombudsman is doing something they did the wrong thing,” the human rights activist believes.
