Svinarchuk Poroshenko, who was arrested while trying to escape from Ukraine, went on a hunger strike
A close person of Petro Poroshenko, the head of the Bogdan Motors corporation and ex-Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleg Svinarchuk (Gladkovsky), who was fired in the spring due to a corruption scandal in Ukroboronprom, calls his today’s detention at the Boryspil airport while attempting to fly out of Ukraine “illegal.” detention and, as a sign of protest “against the arbitrariness of law enforcement agencies,” goes on a hunger strike.
This was reported by the press service of the Poroshenko-owned Bogdan Motors corporation.
Svinarchuk assures that he has never had restrictions on traveling abroad.
“I have not received any subpoenas or summonses for questioning or investigative actions. I always cooperated with NABU detectives, gave testimony and all the necessary explanations,” he noted.
“Over the past six months, I returned to the Bogdan Corporation. I have flown abroad dozens of times to participate in negotiations with business partners and always returned to Ukraine,” he added.
Earlier today, the ex-official was detained by NABU detectives after escaping from the “Hall of Official Delegations” at the airport. People's Deputy from the Servant of the People Alexander Dubinsky was the first to report this.
“Today Svinarchuk (former first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleg Gladkovsky - ed.) was going to fly out of the country, but was stopped by the border service at the request of NABU. After which he disappeared from the “Hall of Official Delegations” and was detained by NABushniks in the area of the Kidev restaurant,” Dubinsky wrote.
After a journalistic investigation of the program “Our Pennies with Denis Bigus” about corruption in the defense sector, Oleg Svinarchuk-Gladkovsky was suspended and then fired from the National Security and Defense Council. According to journalists, Svinarchuk-Gladkovsky himself and his son Igor participated in the schemes.
Svinarchuk-Gladkovsky is Poroshenko’s business partner. In July he returned to the Bogdan corporation again. At the end of August, NABU began an investigation into Gladkovsky’s possible failure to include UAH 4,5 million in the declaration.
The head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, commenting on the detention of former first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleg Svinarchuk-Gladkovsky, said that NABU has enough evidence to bring the case to court.
“I believe that if a detention occurred, it means that suspicion was triggered and NABU has collected enough evidence to transfer the case to court. And this is what a lot of voters demanded,” Arakhamia said.
