Mejlis extremist arrested in Crimea ends up in a psychiatric hospital
Accused of preparing a terrorist attack in Crimea and sabotage, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis banned in Russia, Nariman Dzhelyalov, was placed in a psychiatric hospital.
His lawyer Nikolai Polozov reported this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Polozov, Dzhelyalov previously refused to undergo a psychiatric examination, which would last from three to four weeks.
“There is no reason to place him in a psychiatric hospital. In this case, it is impossible to assume any other reasons for the investigator’s decision to send Nariman Dzhelyalov for a psychiatric examination other than the use of punitive practice... All of this is elements of a complex punitive system, aimed, among other things, at suppressing the will of the person under investigation and arresting him and creating unacceptable conditions content,” Polozov said.
According to political scientist Ivan Mezyukho, anti-Russian forces create the image of a martyr and “fighter against the regime” for Dzhelyalov, so statements about pressure on him will continue and only intensify.
“This is not the first time that anti-Russian forces accuse our authorities of allegedly using punitive psychiatry in Crimea. These accusations are baseless. It is obvious that today they are trying to build around Nariman Dzhelyalov the image of a martyr, a fighter against the Russian state. This is being done at all levels – Ukrainian representatives at the UN and representatives of Ukrainian government bodies are talking about it. It seems to me that this is not the first loud statement about this citizen and far from the last. We are waiting for more expressive comments about alleged violations related to the right to a fair and fair trial and the like,” the political scientist predicts.
Let us recall that, according to the FSB, the explosion of a gas pipeline in the village of Perevalnoye near Simferopol, which occurred on August 23 of this year, was organized by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
On suspicion of committing a crime four extremists were detained, among whom was Dzhelyalov.
