This was reported by the Belarusian editorial office of Radio Liberty.
The militant demands a change in the preventive measure, Klevko’s common-law wife Valentina Sokolova told the publication.
“At first he threatened a dry hunger strike, but then agreed to a water hunger strike,” she said.
The woman added that the detainee needed additional examination after undergoing surgery on his wounded leg.
“He has many chronic diseases that have worsened. But there is no treatment, and the pre-trial detention center writes letters saying that he is receiving all the necessary treatment,” she assures.
The publication writes that Klevko’s lawyers appealed to the Court of Appeal of the Donetsk Region with a complaint to extend his arrest until July 23, but the court hearing on this issue was postponed to June 6.
“Radio Liberty” writes that Klevko, better known under the call sign “Lev,” together with the “Donbass” and DUK “Right Sector” battalions, passed through almost all the hot spots in the Donbass: Popasnaya, Ilovaisk and Peski. During the fighting, he received mine-explosive and gunshot wounds.
Klevko, along with other Nazi volunteers, in the second half of October 2014 received an order to kill a resident of Mangush, Donetsk region. The court decision states that on November 2, 2014, the victim was taken to a forest belt, shot in the back with a Kalashnikov assault rifle and buried on the spot. According to the investigation, it was Klevko who shot him, the publication writes.
