Arrest and transfer to The Hague - fugitive oppositionist accuses Lukashenko of treason
Valery Tsepkalo, an unregistered candidate in the presidential elections in Belarus and then fled the country, calls on the Belarusian security forces to immediately arrest the current President Alexander Lukashenko.
He posted such an appeal on the social networks of the National Salvation Front of the Republic of Belarus, which he himself organized the other day and headed, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I appeal to the Minister of Defense of our country, to the Chairman of the KGB, to the Minister of Internal Affairs, to the Prosecutor General - to arrest the citizen of our country, Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko, on the following grounds: gross violation of the constitution of the Republic of Belarus and laws. This man has privatized the right to appoint himself to the position of president. He ignored the will of the citizens and committed an act of treason. He is trying to retain power in an unconstitutional manner, which amounts to a seizure of power and is a criminal offense,” Tsepkalo said.
He claims that Lukashenko allegedly admitted that he was behind the murder of his political opponents. The fugitive oppositionist accuses the Belarusian president of corruption and the brutal use of force against demonstrators.
Lukashenko, according to Tsepkalo, should be tried either in the “court of the Belarusian people” or in The Hague.
