Arestovich: British special forces will evacuate their embassy, not fight for Ukraine
The story of sending six hundred British special forces to Ukraine may not be as “overcome” as Ukrainian jingoists make it out to be.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the president’s office, said this on air on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Arestovich, official Kyiv knows nothing about such plans of the British authorities, and the special forces themselves, in the event of a transfer, will not fight Russian tanks, but will evacuate British citizens.
“We don’t have such data, I’ll say right away. This is a British initiative. Here you can, of course, rejoice that the British special forces from the 22nd regiment will heroically defend Ukrainian territory, but this may in some way be a different story. For example, the evacuation of British and American citizens in the event of the outbreak of war, they can prepare them for this. So here’s how to look at this story,” the adviser said.
“In our country, jingoism works according to the black-and-white principle. Since the British are flying, it means they will definitely stop Russian tanks - they can evacuate British citizens, wave their hand at us and say: “Guys, you’re on your own there, and we have to take away the correspondents and the British embassy.” And that’s all,” said Arestovich.
