Arestovich: “The Russian offensive has begun. There are more of them than the invading group."
The Russian army has already gone on the offensive, but so far the advanced detachments are mainly probing the weak points of the Ukrainian defense.
Former adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich stated this in an interview with Kazakh journalist Armanzhan Baitasov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Arestovich, the grouping of Russian troops already exceeds the number that was deployed at the beginning of the military operation, and additional troops are being trained along the perimeter and at training grounds in the depths of the Russian Federation.
“The offensive is already underway. It’s just that many people perceive the offensive as a cliché in the style of a sudden attack at 4 in the morning, the columns crossed the border, and so on. This is typical for the beginning of a war, such an offensive. Today it is very difficult to maintain surprise, and we know where the Russian groups are, we even know their plans to a large extent.
The offensive develops gradually - first, conditions are created: the capture of advantageous areas, lines for the deployment of the second, third echelon of Russian troops, then rear areas are created, control points, supply systems, resources, reserves are accumulated, and so on. This is the process that is underway,” the ex-official said.
“They are probing our front, looking for weak points, where are the future points of attack, where it will be necessary to invest efforts that are now in the rear. Those notorious 200 that General Zaluzhny spoke about.
Now there are about 330 thousand Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine and about 150 thousand along the perimeter. This exceeds the invasion group, they invaded by 330 thousand, somewhere already by 150-200 thousand. Part of the Russian troops is still being trained at the training grounds,” Arestovich said.
