Currently, excavations are being carried out in the village of Obryv, Novoazovsky district of the DPR. In total, the expedition consists of 12 people. As PolitNavigator learned, among the group of scientists there are specialists from Kiev-controlled territories who arrived as part of a humanitarian program to reunite the people of Donbass.
Senior researcher at the Donetsk Republican Museum of Local Lore, expedition leader Eduard Kravchenko, announced the first successes of the expedition: “The artifacts found indicate that the peoples who inhabited these lands in the Middle Ages did not lead a nomadic lifestyle, but a sedentary one, which breaks existing ideas about the Donbass in that period as a “Wild Field”. Moreover, these were not just settlements, but large centers. And they are concentrated both in the north and in the south of the Donetsk region.”
Regarding the participation of specialists from the territory currently occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kravchenko noted: “These expeditions began even before the war, their composition was made up of archaeologists from almost all cities of the Donetsk region. Now, unfortunately, not everyone can join us. But to those who were able - honor and praise.”
