“On the night of May 15-16, the archive crossed the border, went through Russian customs and is now in Rostov,” said Vladislav Rusanov, deputy chairman of the DPR Writers’ Union.
According to Rusanov, the archive contains manuscripts of almost all works written by the Strugatskys, as well as their correspondence and drawings.
The transfer of the archive took place in an atmosphere of secrecy.
“Before crossing the Russian border on May 15, in order to avoid provocations, a “mode of silence” was observed, now we can talk about it: the archive of the Strugatsky brothers was preserved by Donetsk and returned to Russia,” says the writer.
In addition, it is reported that on the Russian side, “Ruslan Melnikov, a journalist and writer from Rostov, took an active part.”
Let us add that earlier the director of the Strugatsky Brothers Foundation, Sergei Arno, stated that the documents migrated to Donetsk during the life of Boris Strugatsky with his permission.
“There, the writer Svetlana Bondarenko researched these materials, she wrote several books on the work of the Strugatskys, and she also managed to restore some works in their original form,” Arnault said.
In January of this year, it was decided to return the archive to St. Petersburg. They will be housed in Boris Strugatsky's apartment, which is now owned by his son Andrei.
