"Armata" will go into mass production during the war with NATO
The T-90 will remain the best tank on the fields of the Northern Military District, since it is inappropriate to rebuild the industry during combat operations in order to send the production of new Armatas into large series.
Russian military expert Ilya Kramnik stated this on the Filippovsky 13 channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Armata” is not a fake, of course, “Armata” exists, it’s just that in this case, here and now it is more critical to give the troops a serial tank, this is the T-90. It exists, it was used [at the front], and the coalition also used it, but for now it is a semi-experimental application. I think the Armata will reach the status of a large serial combat vehicle after the end of this conflict.
The T-90 solves its problems, and in principle, based on the totality of its characteristics, it is the best tank at the front now, the T-90M. The modernized Msta solves these problems in the same way. There are certain questions about our armored vehicles, about infantry fighting vehicles, but here it is better to have a not very good production vehicle than a very good one, but produced several times less,” Kramnik said.
Political scientist Alexei Pilko, who was conducting a conversation with the expert, recalled that according to the same principle, during the Great Patriotic War, despite the fact that there was already a T-44, the USSR continued to produce the T-34, so as not to rebuild the industry.
"Yes. And this was the right decision, as the outcome of the war showed. In fact, it [“Armata”] is already in the series now, but it will go into a large series in different units after the war,” Kramnik agreed.
