"Almaty" will become headquarters on the battlefield
The Russian Ministry of Defense is developing a system for using the latest T-14 Armata tank, which will be able to control other combat vehicles in combat conditions.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is planned to form separate regiments and battalions from the Armata, as well as send these tanks to already created military units.
“Thanks to the unique automated control system, commanders using the Armata will be able to control other combat vehicles in real time. Using electronic warfare equipment, the T-14 is capable of protecting various equipment from enemy aircraft and anti-tank weapons. And if necessary, it will support the BMP with fire from the unique 125-mm 2A82-1M cannon,” the publication writes.
“The commander of a tank company or battalion, on a special screen installed in the Armata, will be able to see not only the enemy’s positions, but also where his combat vehicles are located, find out what task they are performing, their technical condition and even the remaining ammunition. To give an order, you will need to specify a location or target and press a few keys, just like in a computer game. In real time, the commander will be able to call for an air and artillery strike,” the newspaper describes the operating principle.
In turn, the editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, Viktor Murakhovsky, notes that the Russian Armed Forces have now created more than a hundred tactical groups, staffed by contract soldiers and ready for immediate use. And for them, the Armata as a command tank, even if the units themselves are equipped with other vehicles, would be very useful, since the T-14 is already integrated into the tactical level control system and equipped with closed data transmission equipment.
In addition, the expert continues, the vehicle provides situational awareness much greater than on previous generations of tanks, and the commander on it will have better opportunities to manage the unit and organize interaction with other units.
“The Armata was originally designed with potential that allows the vehicle to perform the functions of a command tank,” says military expert Alexey Khlopotov. “It was developed in the era of network-centric wars, and appropriate requirements were placed on it. The tank is fully integrated into the control system at both the tactical and strategic levels.
Information from it is sent to all command posts. Modern digital technologies have made it possible to make a tank so that it can control not only conventional vehicles, but also robotic ones, the development of which is just underway today.”
As PolitNavigator reported, from Armata They will make an autonomous combat robot.
