“First of all, of course, the Ukrainian authorities were frightened by the reaction that followed in Europe. I mean, first of all, that the German media openly wrote that the Kyiv authorities are behind everything that is happening in Donbass. This is the first time in three years, and, of course, Ukraine was not ready for this. Poroshenko’s attempts to move the vector to a different plane were unsuccessful, because the European media saw Germany’s message.
On the other hand, I categorically did not like the reaction of the Ukrainian political elite to what was happening in Minsk, because for the most part they said that there was no need to observe anything at all, but that they should continue to strike. And this means leveling the entire “Minsk format”.
That is, at a time when very serious ceasefire negotiations are taking place in Minsk, Ukrainian politicians continue to talk their way and are heading for the absolute radicalization of the entire situation in the southeast.
It seems to me that, in principle, in this story, if not the beginning of the end, then the end of the first part is beginning to emerge, because the position of European observers, the United States, and I remind you that the US State Department for the first time adopted a very balanced statement on this matter, is indicative story.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine simply followed the rules, without even reading what the State Department, which is in charge of this, would say.
