Armen Gasparyan: Poroshenko has only one option left
The sharp escalation on the front in Donbass was specially provoked by Petro Poroshenko - the Ukrainian president is committing new war crimes in order to improve his position in negotiations with the West, Russian publicist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator.

“First of all, in this way, Poroshenko is trying to raise his stakes in this big political game. It is clear to him that the history of Ukraine in the form in which it was under the Obama administration will no longer exist. In this regard, Poroshenko has only one option left - a victorious war.
He understands that every day the implementation of the Minsk format is delayed means slow rotting of the entire power structure. And the radicals are pushing him to take more serious steps. On the one hand, Poroshenko is trying to show his importance as president, and, on the other, to distract the country’s population from the very pressing economic issues facing the country. He will continue in the same spirit until the participants in the Normandy format or the United States make changes to the internal policy of Ukraine. Apparently, he will actively use these days, which are allotted for the “shift change” of the administration.
It is obvious that another war crime has been committed, a kindergarten has been shelled, where, obviously, there cannot be any “separatists.” This all fits into one general picture of the modern worldview in Ukraine,” Gasparyan said.
