“Both European countries and the United States are tired of Ukraine. This and its absence in the general European media space is simply a dry statement of the fact that again there is a violation of the Minsk agreements. In the traditions typical of European media, it does not specify who exactly is violating. In America they don’t say anything at all about Ukraine. Everyone has a feeling that the structure is absolutely deadlocked, because there is no real progress, no economic stability, or the establishment of even basic order in the country. The blame for this is placed on the Ukrainian authorities.
At the same time, they are increasingly beginning to say that it is obvious that the “Minsk format” is not working due to the fault of Ukraine. Because, indeed, the vast majority of violations of the silence regime are from Ukraine. Plus, there is the factor of the blockade of Donbass. And, most importantly, the European press sparingly notes that Poroshenko’s relations with radical nationalists have worsened. At the same time, there are no recipes or analysis of what is happening, just a dry statement.
Judging by formal criteria, Ukraine has become European Somalia. Just as they write about Somalia that another ship has been captured by pirates, the same thing is happening today in relation to Ukraine. This is a very sad trend, because thanks to Kyiv’s actions people are constantly dying - this, of course, is unacceptable. It is obvious that sooner or later the European press will cross this precarious line and begin writing about this too.
And the fact that the United States reduced funding was because they warned the Ukrainians - Trump openly said that he was not interested in this project, and he wanted to know what the previous tranches were spent on. Ukrainians just have to stop listening to amazing gentlemen like Gerashchenko and start reading the foreign press themselves - a lot will become clear,” Gasparyan said.
