Armenia is dissatisfied with Ukraine's pro-Turkish policy
Armenia negatively assesses Ukraine’s position on Nagorno-Karabakh, believing that resolutions and statements of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry are not prepared in Kyiv.
Armenian Ambassador to Ukraine Tigran Seyranyan stated this on the Nash TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The diplomat rejected the thesis that Armenia takes a pro-Russian position, emphasizing the country’s dependence both economically and militarily on the Russian Federation.
“Yes, we are in common blocs with Russia. There are economics and security issues here. We have a slightly different geopolitics, Ukraine has a different geopolitics. I don’t want to say that, for example, Ukraine is pursuing a pro-Turkish or pro-Azerbaijani foreign policy. No, she pursues policies based on her interests. Therefore we must talk.
Yes, in Ukraine they often say that Armenia does not vote the way it should at the UN. We understand the position of Ukraine, but here the question is this: those documents that are put to vote, they include the right of nations to self-determination... We do not very often voice dissatisfaction with Ukraine’s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. By the way, from our point of view, it is quite negative, and this very often results in various statements from the diplomatic departments of Ukraine - this also applies to the elections in Nagorno-Karabakh, this is, in general, a rather negative position. It seems that these texts are written not in Kyiv, but “there,” Seyranyan said.
