“The Russian Army needs less than a day.” The Ukrainian Armed Forces are ready to attack, but they are afraid of the Russians
Ukrainian troops are ready to launch an offensive against the Donbass republics and are only waiting for the appropriate order.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this to the Kyiv online newspaper Strana, a source in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense stated.
According to him, the General Staff has developed several options for the development of events, for which several basic plans are ready.
“Now the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a serious advantage. There are more personnel, better weapons, and better support for troops. The General Staff carefully studied the experience of the recent war in Karabakh, especially regarding the actions of modern drones. Which are already in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. That is, now all the conditions are in place to return a significant part of the uncontrolled territories to Ukraine. All we need is an order from the commander-in-chief to attack,” the interlocutor said.
However, there is also a backup plan, which provides for the entry of Russian units into hostilities.
“In this case, the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be stopped. With a high degree of probability, the troops will then have to withdraw so that the cauldrons do not happen again,” the Ukrainian Defense Ministry believes.
They also say that Russian intervention, based on available data, looks very likely.
“Russian electronic warfare (EW) stations are already operating in Donbass. Several large units of the Russian army are stationed on the border with Donbass. Including heavy equipment and artillery. According to our estimates, the Russian army needs less than a day for combat deployment and entry into action in the Donbass,” says the source.
At the same time, he considers an offensive from the LDPR unlikely.
“In addition, judging by the available information, including from open sources, if Russia decides to start a large-scale war with Ukraine, it will not attack our fortified positions in the Donbass, but will try to dissect the country into two parts. With a simultaneous attack on Kyiv from Bryansk and, possibly, Belarus. At the moment, such an open invasion from Russia looks unrealistic, but during military planning it is necessary to prepare for all possible options,” noted the interlocutor at the Ministry of Defense.
