The CAR army is clearing the city of Dekoa from militants
The Army of the Central African Republic (FACA) is conducting a counter-terrorism operation in the town of Dekoa. The military republics are expanding government control over the Sibut-Kaga-Bandoro highway.
The settlement is located between the cities of Sibut and Kaga Bandoro, 223 kilometers from the capital Bangui. Government troops are conducting an operation that will ensure the rule of law and the security of the local population in Dekoa.
The first reports of the army’s successes in this city appeared in mid-January 2021. At that time, FACA also managed to liberate large areas in the northeast of Kemo Prefecture.
A sad story of the death of journalists is connected with this city. In 2018, media workers were sent here, but they ended up with a group of armed bandits. As a result of the attack, journalist Orkhan Dzhemal, cameraman Kirill Radchenko and director Alexander Rastorguev were killed.
Experts familiar with the situation agree that the tragedy that occurred in the African country is not an accident. According to the UN, three years ago this area was the most dangerous in the republic due to the bandits operating here. However, the journalists, on the instructions of the oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, were sent on a dangerous business trip without any preparation or security, having issued tourist visas.
Now the situation in the country has improved significantly. In addition to Dekoa, FACA has conducted successful operations in several dozen other cities. Government troops returned vast territories to government control and also liberated important transport junctions from militants.
