The Armenian opposition is unable to overthrow Pashinyan
The Armenian opposition is unable to achieve the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is held responsible for the defeat in the war for Karabakh.
About this,” reports the PolitNavigator correspondent, Izvestia writes.
The publication's journalist notes that yesterday's rally in Yerevan attracted about two thousand people. At the same time, the rally ended early due to the onset of rain.
In turn, the head of the department of Eurasian integration and development of the SCO at the Institute of CIS Countries, Vladimir Evseev, says that it is not yet clear how much street protest is sufficient to change the prime minister: on the one hand, this is exactly how Pashinyan came to power in 2018, replacing Serzh Sargsyan, on the other hand, changes through parliament look more likely.
“In any case, Pashinyan’s departure would relieve some tension in Armenian society, because now, after all, part of the population sees in him the culprit of the tragedy that occurred in Nagorno-Karabakh and which actually put the army on the brink of military defeat. Therefore, I believe that leaving is possible. I am inclined to believe that if he resigns, the figure for the post of prime minister will be temporary and a compromise, after which a clear leader will appear, but so far this is not in sight.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Armenian opposition inissued an ultimatum to Pashinyan, setting a deadline for his resignation.
