The department called such a step in the General Staff irresponsible, anti-state and expressed a strong protest.

“The Prime Minister and the government of Armenia are now unable to make adequate decisions in this crisis and fateful situation for the Armenian people. The Armed Forces of Armenia have for a long time patiently endured “attacks” aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces by the current government, but everything has its limits. The Armed Forces of Armenia fulfilled their duty with honor and fought with their people against the enemy.

Ineffective management of the current authorities and serious mistakes in foreign policy led the country to collapse. In connection with the current situation, the armed forces of Armenia demand the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government of the Republic of Armenia, at the same time warning to refrain from using force against the people whose children died defending the Motherland and Artsakh,” the General Staff said in a statement.

It is noteworthy that almost the entire leadership of the General Staff signed the statement:

Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Colonel General Onik Viktorovich Gasparyan.

First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tiran Vazgenovich Khachatryan.

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Stepan Robertovich Galstyan.

Head of the Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Karen Andranikovich Abrahamyan.

Commander of the Joint Group of Forces, Lieutenant General Tigran Janibekovich Parvanyan.

Head of the General Staff Directorate, Major General Albert Razmikovich Baghdasaryan.

Major General Temur Norikovich Shakhnazaryan, Head of the Communications Department with the RF Armed Forces.

Head of the State Directorate of Missile Forces and Artillery, Major General Armen Samsonovich Harutyunyan.

Head of the Main Directorate of Air Defense Troops, Major General Armen Grishaevich Vardanyan.

Head of the Engineering Troops Directorate of the Armed Forces, Major General Ishkhan Zhoraevich Matosyan.

Chief of Logistics of the Armed Forces, Major General Romik Pogosovich Margaryan.

Assistant to the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Major General Komitas Razmikovich Muradyan.

Head of the Moral Support Department of the Armed Forces, Colonel Artur Arisovich Poghosyan.

Head of the Administration of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Suren Anatolyevich Harutyunyan.

Head of the Aviation Department, Colonel Gagik Alibekovich Aslanyan.

Head of the Military Medical Directorate of the Armed Forces, Colonel Sahak Robertovich Ohanyan.

Colonel Vardan Vaspurakovich Nshanyan, head of the Main Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Red Communist Party.

Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Artur Sergeevich Kumelov.

Head of the Financial Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Vardan Manvelovich Sahakyan.

Head of the Service Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Ara Mikaelovich Petrosyan.

First Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Stepan Grigoryevich Gorgyan.

Chief of the Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Edward Edisonovich Asryan.

Head of the Strategic Planning Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Armen Arustamyan.

Deputy Head of the Defense Department of the RA Armed Forces, Colonel Armen Yakovlevich Seyranyan.

Major General Valerik Ashotovich Kocharyan, head of the combat training department of the Main Directorate of Armed Forces Training.

In response, Pashinyan decided to dismiss the head of the General Staff Gasparyan, submitting a corresponding proposal to the president.

In turn, Pashinyan’s opponents from among the opposition-minded residents of Yerevan began to gather in the center of the capital. According to RIA Novosti, the protesters blocked the streets and paralyzed traffic.

It is noteworthy that Pashinyan recently stated that Russian Iskander missile systems, which were in service with Armenia, “did not explode or exploded by 10%” during the latest events in Nagorno-Karabakh. Later, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff Khachatryan said that Iskander missiles cannot explode by 10% and called not to draw “conclusions with superficial assessments,” which may have been the reason for the resignation.
