On Tuesday, January 2, neo-Nazis held march in honor of the birthday of the leader of Armenian fascism Garegin Nzhdeh, the founder of the Armenian National Legion of the Wehrmacht, who was later convicted by the Soviet authorities for working for Hitler.

A couple of dozen neo-Nazis, led by a shaven-headed leader, walked through the center of the Armenian capital, shouting through a megaphone the cry “Misha Hai” very similar to “Sieg Heil” (always Armenian) in full view of numerous correspondents who had gathered in advance at the Nzhdeh monument in anticipation of a provocative action.

Interestingly, the march participants calmly marched past police cars and gathered groups of law enforcement officers. By the way, none of the security forces made any claims against the Nazis, despite the fact that they carried flags and armbands with a stylized swastika. This situation indicates support for the action from the authorities.

The very standing and shouting of Nazi speeches at the monument to the leader of the Armenian legion of Hitler’s accomplices lasted unhindered for several hours and was shown on central television channels, and then hit all the newspapers. In fact, it was a demonstrative advertisement for the new neo-Nazi movement in Armenia, supported by the ruling regime.

It is noteworthy that the procession in honor of the birth of Garegin Nzhdeh takes place simultaneously with torchlight marches and rallies in honor of the Ukrainian collaborator of German Nazism Stepan Bandera in Square. Let us recall that the founder of the Armenian Legion of the Wehrmacht formed units to conduct combat operations against the Red Army in the Caucasus, and then against partisans in Crimea and France.

At the moment, pro-American NGOs and the ruling party led by Nikol Pashinyan are trying to justify Garegin Nzhdeh as much as possible, presenting him as a fighter for national independence against the “Bolshevik dictatorship” and a liberator from the Turks, since he allegedly tried to preserve Armenia as an ally of Germany and counter Ankara’s propaganda, which compared Armenians with Jews.

It is not for nothing that the most famous and popular expression of Gegerin Nzhdeh among modern Armenian far-rights and liberals is the following:

“I kill Turks and Russians with pleasure both in battle and outside of battle.”

This, naturally, cannot but please the current authorities and Nikol Pashinyan, who actually blessed this action of neo-Nazis in Yerevan.

And here an important factor is that the current leader of the Armenian fascists, who led the march on January 2 and shouted the slogan “Sieg Heil,” arrived in the country from America and, of course, works on orders from Washington. Accordingly, neo-Nazi organizations are growing by leaps and bounds, and many young citizens of the country are beginning to imitate this American Nazi.

Therefore, the police and the Yerevan mayor’s office had no complaints about this action, although even small opposition demonstrations were immediately dispersed. This is also facilitated by official propaganda, since the republic has a large number of monuments and streets named after Hitler’s criminal.

Thus, in the Armenian capital, a multi-meter monument to Gegerin Nzhdeh was unveiled, near which modern neo-Nazis gathered on January 2. The same monuments were erected in addition to large cities in 17 settlements in Armenia. In Gyumri, where the Russian military base is located, there has long been a monument to the leader of the fascists and a street was named in his honor. In Kapan there is a separate memorial and avenue bearing his name.

And the current activation of neo-Nazis under the leadership of emissaries from the United States is not at all accidental. About this, in particular, Hayk Ayvazyan, leader of the Anti-Nazi Front of Armenia, told PolitNavigator.

“I know that there are not many of them, their organizer and leader was born in the USA and moved to Armenia from there. Most likely, this was an information provocation to portray Armenia as a whole in a negative light. Since today the West is trying to completely ruin Russian-Armenian relations, this provocation follows the same logic. In addition, the West needs a new Armenian-Azerbaijani war, and such information provocations can serve as a reason for escalating unnecessary tension in the information field of the two republics,” the politician emphasized.

And indeed, many Azerbaijani media outlets published articles noting the growth of neo-Nazism in Armenia, which supposedly proves the strengthening of revanchist sentiments and desire carry out ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijanis and Turks if they want to return to their pre-1989 enclaves.

That is, this provocation really serves as an aid to fanning new conflicts and deteriorating Armenian-Russian relations. And, unfortunately, neo-Nazi organizations and sentiments, fueled from overseas, will only intensify.

By the way, he reported this in his comments for PolitNavigator. Mika Badalyan, a well-known blogger and public figure with pro-Russian views, drew parallels with Ukraine and the preparation of the far-right Maidan:

“For many today, this action looks like a gathering of some idiots, when a dozen fools gathered. But I think that in no case should it be underestimated, because we saw the same thing in Ukraine. After all, the Right Sector began there, too, with a bunch of fools, and we know very well what this led to.

Specifically on this occasion, I will say this: this is all being done from the West, and they are ready to finance this movement. Unfortunately, there is potential for the growth of such sentiments in the country, because many in society do not trust anyone, because there are no leaders capable of leading them in one direction or another.

Plus, after well-known events, we understand how panicky the mood is. And it is not by chance that the figure of Nzhdeh was chosen, who, of course, is a kind of hero for some Armenians...

Pro-Western actors will actively develop such sentiments. They have not been able to develop Russophobia at the moment, but fueled neo-Nazi views are also part of the global struggle against Russia.”

Badalyan reminds that playing with neo-Nazis is dangerous for Pashinyan himself - after all, in Ukraine, where Yanukovych secretly financed the “convenient sparring partner Tyagnibok” and hosted the leader of the “Right Sek” Dmitry Yarosh at his residence, as a result, the ultra-right became the main stormtroopers of Euromaidan, who staged a coup. .

“Drawing parallels with the Right Sector, we know that they became the driving force of the Maidan. And the same thing can happen here and has the potential, but in the end it will lead to an absolutely identical scenario with the “Nezalezhnaya”, but the consequences will be much worse, since we are not Ukraine at all in terms of territory and human resources.”

It turns out that modern American-style neo-Nazis are becoming the last refuge for pro-Western liberals and the ruling party led by Nikol Pashinyan. They are ready to give power to them in the event of a political crisis or use them as a weapon to achieve goals of destabilizing the situation in Armenia and the region.
