The Armenian Maidan showed Russian liberals how to treat Crimea
The Armenian opposition won because it took a more patriotic position regarding Nagorno-Karabakh than the Russian opposition did regarding Crimea.
Russian publicist Dmitry Olshansky wrote about this in his telegram channel.
“What if protesters in Armenia don’t come out with posters: “Give Karabakh to Azerbaijan!”, “Tyrant, respect the territorial integrity of the fraternal Azerbaijani people!”, “Sargsyan’s voters are cattle and pulp!”, “Slave totalitarian Armenia must ask for forgiveness from the whole world !”, “Let's pay Turkey reparations for our lies!”
Suddenly they see these posters, they are ready to say all these words, and then, at the last second! - and for some reason they didn’t take it and didn’t say. But instead they said something completely different: that they are proud that they are Armenians, that they live in a great country with a great culture, and that it’s a donut hole for you, not Karabakh. And everything worked out for them,” Olshansky wrote.
