Artem Buzila: Bloody ATO and purge of unwanted media – or else there will be more
Artem Buzila, journalist, Odessa
I have two agendas today. Thank God, not to the army or to the prosecutor's office. But given the events below, who knows...
Firstly, Poroshenko’s victory. Let me make a reservation right away: I recognize the elections as illegitimate, not even because Yanukovych fled, but because they were carried out in an atmosphere of terror, censorship and threats to the lives of candidates. For example, I sympathized with Oleg Tsarev, but I could not vote for him. And even the “inedible” Dobkin, whom I ultimately had to choose, did not have the opportunity to visit, say, Kherson, where his plane was blocked by the Right Sector.

What the hell kind of legitimacy is there? Even the 1933 elections in Germany, which took place under the terror of the fighting units of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, God forbid, were freer.
Am I happy with Poroshenko? Will I accept it? Well, let’s say, between Tymoshenko, Yarosh, Tyagnibok and Lyashko, Poroshenko is probably better. It's like between Mussolini and Hitler, who is better? Obviously Mussolini. So we look at the “ATO” and “rejoice” that the rebels of Donbass are being killed with firearms, crushed by tanks and bombed from the air, and their stomachs are not ripped open and their nails are not pulled out, as would have happened, say, with President Tyagnibok.
Now Donbass is the talk of the town, but the “witch hunt” continues in Odessa. The new authorities, together with my colleagues, labeled me as enemies of the people. Supporters of Euromaidan made a complaint, saying that together with colleagues from the site “Odessit”, “Timer” and “Info-Center” we promote the Russian World, the Customs Union, we deify “Berkut”, and sympathize with the rebels in the South-East. Now everyone, young and old, must take charge of us: the police, the governor, and the SBU.
Getting on the “black list” from Euromaidan supporters should be taken as an assessment of merit, advises familiar TV presenter Grigory Kvasnyuk.
“The so-called letter demanding that “information saboteurs” be punished is evidence that those people who call themselves supporters of Euromaidan are in fact not supporters of European values. With this letter they deny the right to have a different point of view. The people who signed this letter call themselves intellectuals, although in reality they are not. They are ordinary informers,” says Grigory Kvasnyuk.
“We don’t love you, but we won’t let you close,” supports Oleg Konstantinov, editor-in-chief of the largest Odessa online publication “Dumskaya”.
“This looks very much like some kind of denunciation. I hope that the leadership of the region and the police will not react in any way to this letter,” the journalist said.
In general, the situation is indicative. In Donbass there is a physical cleansing. In Odessa, following the House of Trade Unions, an attempt was made to clean up the information system. But the inauguration hasn’t even happened yet.
Thank you!
