Association of Tour Operators of Russia: today there are many more people wishing to vacation in Turkey than there are vouchers

This was announced at the press conference “Turkey has been opened. How to make the holidays of Russian tourists safe?” said the executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia Maya Lomidze.
“When they say that demand has exceeded supply, this means that there is less supply on the market than there are people willing to buy tours to Turkey. At the moment, the situation is as follows: there are many more people who want to go to Turkey. There are sales, they started starting from Saturday-Sunday. I can’t give exact data yet, the numbers change every ten minutes. This applies not only to Moscow-St. Petersburg, but also to all regions of Russia,” she said.
According to Lomidze, by the end of the current week of the Association of Tour Operators, Russians will be able to find out how many tours to Turkey were sold in a week.
“Let me remind you that there are no permissions to organize charter flights yet; accordingly, all available offers are based on regular flights, and they require a fairly high ticket price. Thus, the average cost of a holiday in Turkey now with accommodation in a three-star hotel on an all inclusive system starts somewhere from 40 thousand rubles per person per week. This price, according to the operators themselves, exceeds last year’s figures for the same period, and, of course, taking into account the economic situation, taking into account the fact that we have, in principle, the number of consumers in the field of outbound tourism, the price turns out to be unaffordable for a certain part of tourists. And they are waiting, waiting for the price reductions that will become possible after the launch of charter programs,” she said.
