Attack of the Caspian Flotilla: Dizziness from success is premature
Yesterday's surprise with 26 launches of “calibers” from the Caspian Sea was certainly impressive. I am sure that the message reached everyone, even the stupidest of those to whom it was addressed. And the point here is not only and not so much about sea-based “caliber” cruise missiles, but rather a comprehensive demonstration of the capabilities of a small Caspian flotilla, which, I am sure, few people have taken into account until now.

The “Mosquito Fleet” (represented by several small multi-purpose missile and artillery ships “Buyan-M” with a displacement of less than 1000 tons each) showed that it is not always necessary to have a pretentious ocean-going aircraft carrier group, but even such outwardly not the most impressive forces can be restrained from within seas of various demons - almost to the entire depth of the European continent, and if there is an urgent need to cover the sponsors of the Basmachi of the whole world in Saudi Arabia, and even slightly touch the Maghreb.
There have already been cheerful reports about “it has no analogues in the world” and “now everyone is convinced.” Simply googling the topic will calm the hotheads a little. A geopolitical adversary should not be considered worse than oneself and, especially, worse than a locomotive.
Of course, “caliber” cruise missiles in any version are an indicator of the level and quality mark of the domestic defense industry. But the Americans also have adequate weapons, which practically do not differ in performance characteristics from the “calibers”.
Tomahawk cruise missiles TLAM-E Block IV are even superior to “calibers” in a number of parameters. “Tomahawks” are almost 2 meters shorter, and their flight range reaches 1600 km with a similar high-explosive warhead and a speed of 0.7 M. In addition, the “tomahawk” of this modification entered service 8 years earlier than the “caliber”.
And somehow, amid the fanfare, one forgets that Russia is defending itself. Active, confident, but defensive. Having expelled ISIS and the “moderate” Basmachi from Syria, we will probably have to drive out the bandits in Iraq. And in connection with the outbreak of hostilities in Afghanistan and the recent attempted military coup in Tajikistan, we will have to heed the request of General Dostum and get involved in the Afghan showdown. Because there is no choice.
The Americans have become suspiciously quiet with the rise of military and propaganda hysteria around Donbass, and it is very possible that while Russia is solving its urgent problems in the Middle East and Central Asia, Washington and their Kiev lackeys will be tempted to finally solve the problem of the people's republics. Most likely, that’s what the Washington multi-move is designed for.
That “friends and partners” will set fire along the entire border, wherever their hands can reach, was said by smart people last year, when the protests in Donbass had not yet turned into armed resistance to the junta.
There is reason for joy and pride in our Armed Forces, but it is too early to write victory reports and drill holes for awards: our geopolitical enemy’s hands are still a little tied by the upcoming presidential elections.
“Lame duck” Obama is no longer likely to find himself in the presidential chair again, and he has absolutely no need to twitch and flex his muscles. Whether it’s the future successor as President of the United States...
