Attack on Kherson will result in colossal casualties - Avakov
For Ukraine, Kherson is a political, but not a strategic region; an attack on it will result in excessive sacrifices that cannot be made.
Former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov stated this on the air of the Israeli “Best Radio”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
At the same time, according to Avakov, much more important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is a strike in the direction of Melitopol in order to cut the corridor to Crimea.
“Kherson, undoubtedly, and the entire right bank of Kherson, will undoubtedly be liberated in the near, foreseeable future. The question of the number of losses in this case is serious. Therefore, taking Kherson at any cost is not and should not be a task.
The capture of Kherson is very important politically, but for military strategy I am more interested in the other bank of the Dnieper. The one that is oriented towards Melitopol. The only major strategic direction of Ukraine’s counter-offensive, by and large, is from Zaporozhye to Melitopol. Then they will crumble from everywhere themselves,” Avakov chattered.
