The attack by Ukrainian security forces on the RIA Novosti editorial office in Kyiv is a new provocation of the regime of Petro Poroshenko, famous military correspondent Andrei Babitsky, who lives in Donetsk, told PolitNavigator.

In his opinion, Kyiv is trying to provoke Moscow into some kind of sharp response.

“In this agenda of war with Russia, he constantly needs to imitate some kind of activity, some kind of military action. It seems to me that the point is the need to throw new firewood into this firebox, supposedly being waged against Ukraine. Provocations are what the Ukrainian regime is trying to diversify its life with and will do so in the future,” Babitsky said.

“In fact, the Russian journalistic network in Ukraine has been completely destroyed. Ukraine has not acted too delicately towards Russian journalists before; many were simply not allowed into the country,” the military correspondent also noted.
