Poroshenko's attack on the Moscow Patriarchate failed
Although the administration of the President of Ukraine expected a massive transition to the newly formed church structure of the OCU, this never happened. Director of the Agency for Social Communications Sergei Belashko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As sources close to the officials say (i.e. the information is generated by Bankova), 458 parishes transferred to the OCU from the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate), i.e. 458 parish churches and two diocesan cathedrals.
But, if you look at what is documented, then, in fact, during all this time only 23 parishes were transferred, and 36 more churches were captured.
But, I repeat, this is not legally confirmed. Lawsuits are ongoing. Yesterday, the first court decision was made, according to which these Ukrainian patriots from the OCU returned the keys from the seized temple to the existing community of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
We see the difference in what was announced back in October as an “implementation plan” - up to 500 captured parishes, on the other hand, 23 + 36 - resulting in 59 parishes.
And as long as this process continues to stall, all agreements between Bankova and Fanar on the transfer of real estate will be suspended. Bankova does not see results, for which, in fact, they must pay Constantinople. “Roshen” candies may significantly depreciate in a few weeks due to the downgrading of the status of their manufacturer,” Belashko said.
