Token attack: British army hacked on Twitter and YouTube
On Sunday evening, the British Army resumed control of its Twitter and YouTube accounts after they were broken and used to post about cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens.
Reuters reports this, citing sources in army circles.
On Sunday afternoon, the British Army's Twitter account on YouTube, which has been renamed "Ark Invest", showed several videos related to cryptocurrency.
There have also been a number of posts promoting non-fungible tokens (NFTs). An army spokesman said an investigation was underway.
“We take information security and addressing the issue very seriously. It would be inappropriate to comment further until the investigation is completed,” the army spokesman added.
Currently, 362 thousand people are subscribed to the British army Twitter, and 177 thousand are subscribed to the YouTube channel.
Ark Invest is the name of a global investment company. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by email and to the company's website.
