Atacama won't be able to bomb the Crimean Bridge - expert
The Atacama missiles that the United States is supplying to Ukraine will not change the strategic parity of the parties in the Northern Military District. They have a large warhead (500 kg) and pose a serious threat, but are not modern and are easily shot down.
Vice-President of the Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences, Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Tactical dispersion reaches 150 meters when firing at maximum range. Therefore, it will be difficult to hit point targets, such as the Crimean Bridge. The goal is quite narrow. This is a serious weapon, but there is no reason to panic. This is a classic ballistic missile developed in the 70s of the last century. It follows a predictable, conventional ballistic trajectory.
From the point of view of the air defense object, it is nothing special. No greater threat than Point U, which we successfully dealt with. The combat complement of these “points” in Ukraine was much larger, and we knocked them all out. The same will happen with the Atacamas,” Sivkov is sure.
He clarified that the danger is posed by a salvo attack with missiles, but Ukraine will not be able to launch more than 3-6 Atacamas, since it does not have the required number of carriers - the Hymers MLRS, which the Russian army is successfully knocking out.
