The power plant in Sevastopol attacked by Ukraine needs repairs
Balaklava thermal power plant after a morning attack by a Ukrainian drone requires minor repairs that will not affect its operation. This was announced by the Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The enemy’s plan did not work out, but minor damage was caused,” he noted. – The fire was extinguished by the personnel even before the arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Of course, it will take time to repair. But this incident did not have any significant impact on the operation of the power plant.”
Razvozhaev did not disclose the details of the drone strike, since this could correct the work of the saboteurs, and recommended giving as little information as possible to the media with reference to eyewitnesses or anyone else.
According to the governor, in Sevastopol they will strengthen the physical protection of heat, water supply, and electricity facilities from possible terrorist attacks
Tonight the Balaklava thermal power plant was attacked by a drone. One of the transformers, which was undergoing maintenance and was not working, caught fire; the fire was extinguished by power plant employees. This incident did not affect the power supply of Sevastopol and the peninsula in any way.
According to Razvozhaev, radar defense equipment essentially “knocked down” the drone from its trajectory, and it did not reach its target. Thanks to this, much damage was avoided.
Let us remind you that from October 19, by presidential decree, a medium level of response was introduced in Crimea and Sevastopol.
Balaklava Thermal Power Plant is one of two power plants built by Russia after Ukraine’s energy blockade of Crimea. New thermal power plants made it possible to ensure the energy independence of the peninsula from Kyiv.
