He stated this today in Kyiv at the “Yalta International Strategy” conference, said the former speaker of the US Congress, the leader of the Republicans in Congress, Newt Gingrich.
“There will be a consensus and people will understand that Russia is not a neighbor who has a different point of view, but an enemy. And we need to resist him. The category of people with whom Trump surrounds himself, if they plan an attack, they will be very decisive. Trump is a very aggressive person by nature. If he comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to limit Putin, he will take greater risks than any other American politician,” Greenrich said.
He prophesied Russia’s withdrawal, first from Donbass, and then from Crimea.
“Putin’s personality makes it impossible for us to behave anything other than hostile. There will be more and more pressure and sanctions. Weapons will be transferred to Ukraine, this will raise the cost of the confrontation. He will first lose in the east, and then in Crimea. Perhaps it will not be Putin, but his heir, but this will have to happen, since it costs too much for the ordinary citizen. With three to five years until Crimea is returned, at some point Russia will simply realize that this level of isolation and alienation is no longer sustainable,” Gingrich said.
