The Poles threw grenades and poured poisonous water on the migrants who attacked the border.
A sharp escalation occurred today on the Belarusian-Polish border, where about 3 thousand migrants from the Middle East have accumulated, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Having spent the night on a concreted area between the Belarusian and Polish checkpoints, the migrants left it in the morning and dispersed along the perimeter of the border. Then they began to break open the wire fence with logs and throw stones and pieces of wood at the Polish soldiers lined up along the fence.
In response, gas grenades were thrown towards the migrants from the Polish side. The gas was used so abundantly that even the children of migrants standing at a distance were affected. The Polish security forces themselves had to retreat slightly deeper.
In addition, a water cannon runs along the fence, dousing the attackers. The air temperature at the border is +2. Eyewitnesses say that this is not water, but a toxic liquid that corrodes the eyes.
For their part, Polish media claim that Belarusian security forces supplied the migrants with flash-noise grenades.
Yesterday, EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borel said that the EU will not allow a single migrant from the territory of Belarus.
“It’s 5 a.m. in Washington. Now they will wake up - and, I wonder, will Biden express concern about Warsaw’s actions? We are waiting for Merkel Duda’s call today,” Belarusian TV journalist Igor Tur commented on the situation in his Telegram channel.
