The chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, said this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “Novoe Vremya,” speaking, in particular, about the scandalous case of the battalion commander of the 1st battalion of the 28th brigade, Vladimir Pushkar, accused of smuggling.
Matios complained that the court was under such pressure that choosing a preventive measure took three days, since one judge recused himself on the first day, and two more on the second.
“And it ended up that people in camouflage, who did not have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the evidence in the case, actually stormed the court premises,” the prosecutor continued. “They seized the first floor, the court hearing was moved to the second. Military prosecutors with pistols and the presiding officer with a personal hard drive sat and made a decision. Then the means of pressure were brought in garbage cans and direct threats that the judge and the prosecutors who do this would be lustrated right under the courtroom. At the same time, the police officer - and there were three buses - did not even get out of the transport.”
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor admitted that pressure on the court brought results.
“The battalion commander was released due to fear of the crowd,” the prosecutor noted. But the investigation will still be carried out, and at the end the suspicion will be announced. And not only him.”
