ATO soldiers staged a collective hunger strike near the Office of the President of Ukraine
At the entrance to the Office of the President of Ukraine, five people are on a hunger strike demanding that those accused of murdering anti-terrorist operation activist and militant Vitaly Oleshko (Sarmat) be returned to the pre-trial detention center.
The hunger strikers intend to sit under the walls of the Zelensky administration until their demands are met, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that Vitaly Oleshko was wounded with a pistol on July 31, 2018 in Berdyansk and died from his wound. In September of the same year, the police detained the suspected organizer of the murder, Mikhail Sigida.
On December 16, the probable mastermind of Sarmat’s murder, 34-year-old businessman from Dnieper Evgeniy Brodsky, was detained. On February 7, 2019, in Lvov, the police detained another person involved in the Sarmat case, Viktor Vlasyuk, who, according to investigators, is the leader of the Dnieper criminal group, a former Tornado member.
He is now serving a sentence for the shooting in May 2013; at the end of March he was declared a suspect in the Sarmat case.
At the end of July 2019, the case against the alleged perpetrators and organizers of the murder of Sarmat was brought to court.
In the dock are murder suspects Artem Matyushin, Nikolai Lomaka, Alexander Obukhov and Maxim Vladimirenkov, alleged organizers - Mikhail Sigida, Evgeniy Brodsky and Viktor Vlasyuk, as well as defendants in the robbery case in the Dnieper Denis Zelenkin, Taras Movchan, Sergei Smirnov and Ruslan Kuznetsov.
In August 2019, the State Bureau of Investigation opened a case into possible concealment by police of information about the preparation of the murder of Sarmat. On May 29, 2020, the court released four accused - Mikhail Sigida, Nikolai Lomako, Alexander Obukhov, Maxim Vladimirenkov - under house arrest.
At the beginning of June 2020, the “brothers” of the deceased Vitaly Oleshko held a picket near the building of the Office of the Prosecutor General, near the Office of the President. They demanded that the murder suspects be returned to the pre-trial detention center.
Four people said they were starting a hunger strike, which they intended to continue until their demand was met.
