Auction of Shoigu's works: Help collected for expensive treatment of children
23 person – adults and children – were able to receive expensive medical care thanks to the “Creativity for Life” auction, which was held in mid-May by the charitable foundation of the Russian actor Konstantin Khabensky for the sale of paintings and other works by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Thus, part of the money raised at the auction was used for proton radiation therapy for a child, two more children managed to buy a shunt system, and medicines were purchased for 12 of the fund’s wards. Eight children underwent a course of systemic psychophysical rehabilitation. The geography covers the Stavropol Territory, Sochi, Altai, Irkutsk.
According to Khabensky, the most popular item at the auction was a table that the minister handcrafted from solid wood.
“I am authorized by our Foundation to say thank you and express great gratitude to Sergei Kuzhugetovich for deciding to put up the lots at a charity auction. Here the point is not what position a person occupies, the point here is that he participates,” said the actor.
Russian experts positively assessed the initiative of the head of the Ministry of Defense.
“This is very positive. Well done Shoigu, well done Khabensky - what more can I say. This is an indicator that he is also a citizen, an ordinary person, and a public figure, and not just a minister and chairman of the Russian Geographical Society. If possible, he helps, God bless him,” said political scientist Alexey Martynov.
His colleague Dmitry Gusev emphasized that Shoigu’s initiative should be adopted by other Russian officials:
“The fact that Shoigu is doing this is worthy of respect and support. It doesn’t matter whether he or any other minister does it, what matters is that it’s being done – it’s good and wonderful. Let everyone do this, it’s a good example.”
I agree with the chief editor of the magazine "National Defense" Igor Korotchenko.
“Thanks to this auction, help was provided to those who needed it, who needed it. This is a good initiative by the head of the Ministry of Defense. Our ministers must take initiatives themselves. In this case, this action made it possible to specifically help those in need using the proceeds. As for the other ministers, each one makes certain conclusions and actions for himself. Shoigu acted nobly, humanely, this is good help.”
Thank you!
