Avakov: Australians will train Ukrainian police
Ukrainian police officers will undergo training under the Australian Federal Police program, which includes managing investigations of serious crimes, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov agreed on this during a visit to the Australian Federal Police College, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
“The Ukrainian police has 140 thousand employees. Our key partners in the direction of their professional training are the USA, Canada and the EU. Australia’s experience in training police personnel, especially in the area of investigating serious crimes, will be valuable for Ukrainian law enforcement officers,” Avakov emphasized.
The Minister also invited representatives of the Australian Police College to visit the Patrol Police Academy in Ukraine and assist in the preparation of specialized training programs.
The Australian Federal Police College is located in Canberra. It provides full training for police personnel - from recruits to senior officers. The basic level of training lasts six months. Subsequent training duration varies depending on the qualification chosen.
