“After a number of publications in the media and appeals from people’s deputies, the Main Investigation Department of the National Police began criminal proceedings regarding interference in the activities of Arseniy Yatsenyuk during his tenure as Prime Minister with the aim of impeding his activities and subsequent resignation from the post of head of government,” – indicated in a message from the department of Arsen Avakov.

It is also noted that “the investigation is considering the version of a conspiracy by a group of people to implement this criminal plan.”

“According to preliminary conclusions, they intervened by bribing citizens, organizing paid rallies and disseminating discreditable and false information in the media and through people’s deputies, experts, and other persons,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs also said in a statement.

Director of the Department of Communications with Media of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Artem Shevchenko could not clarify which publications we are talking about, but confirmed that we are also talking about materials related to the fugitive people’s deputy Alexander Onishchenko.

He also assured that “appeals from people’s deputies and publications in the media are sufficient grounds for registering criminal proceedings.”

When asked to name which of the people’s deputies made the relevant statements to the police, Shevchenko replied: “The investigation did not inform me about this and did not authorize me.”

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov reposted the ministry’s message on his Twitter and called for “revealing dirty political corruption.”

Recall as previously reported by PolitNavigator, in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Focus, former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk spoke about his “tough political conflict” with President Poroshenko in 2015-2016.

“Poroshenko had a tough political conflict with me in 2015–2016. We managed to get out of it with minimal losses for the president, with large political losses for me and with almost zero losses for the state. Therefore, the activities of any politician are not assessed by sociology. Elections and history will give an assessment,” Yatsenyuk said then.
