Avakov and Saakashvili buried a scandalous glass of water
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has made peace with his longtime political opponent, ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili.
Avakov stated this on air on the 1+1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the minister, they have already met with Saakashvili several times and discussed controversial issues.
“What’s wrong with Saakashvili? It was, of course, a clear emotional situation. Mikhail is a hot man, oriental. We also have these genes in our blood. But we found the strength to see each other. This was already in the post-Poroshenko period or before the elections, I don’t remember. We once met at someone else's holiday and had a good conversation. And then we met again, and then again. And we exchanged everything very openly.
We were interested - he told me how he saw the position from the other side, starting from how he walked on the roof and ending with all these episodes that led to the conflict. And here the role of Pyotr Alekseevich is high, he is a talented manipulator in this matter. We understood very clearly who acted and how. Be that as it may, Saakashvili had to be treated purely humanely at some point. And I have never crossed this line, and Misha knows this,” Avakov said.
Let us recall that in 2015, at a meeting of the National Reform Council, Avakov quarreled with the Chairman of the Advisory International Council of Reforms, Mikheil Saakashvili, and threw a glass of water at him.
