Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, said this at a press conference in Kyiv, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The trial of Yanukovych turned into a trial of Avakov, Turchinov and many others. Lawyers are trying to actively use this process in order to accuse representatives of the current government of deliberately surrendering Crimea, of exchanging Crimea for power in Kyiv. To some extent they succeed. We conducted focus groups on this issue: society today is really in a confused position - it is no longer sure of Yanukovych’s guilt and is no longer sure of the correctness of the new government formed after the Maidan,” the political scientist said.
According to him. According to the results of the trial of Yanukovych, there are currently two guilty parties.
“One is the fugitive president and his team, who to one degree or another collaborated with Russia for one part of the population and betrayed the interests of another part. On the other hand, there is the current government, which fought for power, but gave up national interests in Crimea, Donbass and much more,” Bortnik added.
