Avakov enters into an alliance with Kolomoisky: Poroshenko is “wetting” the Ministry of Internal Affairs
The vaunted police reform in Ukraine, following the Georgian model, turned out to be a failure: the level of citizens' trust in law enforcement officers is declining.
Alexander Pozny, director of the sociological company Active Group, spoke about this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The question was explored regarding whether the police in general and the patrol police are trusted. The level of trust in the patrol police and the level of trust in the police are almost equal. That is, 4,2% in general completely trust the police and 4,5% completely trust the patrol police. When the patrol police first appeared, their rating was higher than the police as a whole and, accordingly, with the advent of the patrol police, the entire police rating began to increase. But now we see that over time the level of absolute trust again begins to level out across these two categories.
If you look at other answers, 23% are more likely to trust the police in general, and 29,4% - the patrol police. Rather, 38% do not trust the police in general, and 34% do not trust the patrol police. And 20% of the police in general and 16% of the patrol officers absolutely do not trust the police,” the sociologist cited the data.
It should be noted that Active Group is associated with work for the administration of Petro Poroshenko. It is possible that the negative data on the police is a “stone in the garden” for the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, who is considered Poroshenko’s rival in power.
The Ukrainian anonymous Telegram channel RealpolitiC recently reported that Avakov is forming an unspoken alliance with oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, who was squeezed out of Poroshenko from the country - they are jointly financing the new media project “Babel”, and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs may also become a co-owner of the “1+1” TV channel.
“Kolomoisky is considering the option of transferring part of the 1+1 media under the control of Avakov, believing that this will save the channel from being squeezed out. Kolomoisky has already tested joint media on Babel, which is also financed by Avakov. In personal conversations, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs says this about Babel: “My website,” wrote RealpolitiC.
