Avakov hopes for the “unblockade of Mariupol” after the Ukrainian Armed Forces go on the offensive
There can be no talk of releasing the blockade of Mariupol by Ukrainian troops until the Ukrainian Armed Forces are able to go on the offensive in the entire southeast of the country.
Former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Avakov admitted that he dreams of a quick change at the front in favor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“From a military point of view, it is extremely difficult for us to unblock Mariupol now, but to unblock Mariupol from the point of view of a general military operation is a completely feasible and realistic task. And this could happen as a result of the development of the theater of military operations in the entire southeast, where the so-called Russian offensive has already been going on for days,” the ex-minister said.
“I am sure that our guys will have the courage to resist. But I also hope that in the near future we will be able to resolve the situation in the theater of military operations in the southeast so that the release of Mariupol becomes possible. This is my hope, in which I rely, and I really want this to be not just a dream,” Avakov said.
Let us recall that the entire Mariupol was almost completely liberated, with the exception of the territory of the Azovstal plant, in the bunkers of which the remnants of the Ukrainian group and foreign mercenaries settled. Currently, this facility is not being stormed by allied units, but it is regularly attacked.
