Avakov found a prisoner for a bloody attack on a grain elevator in the Kharkov region
The police will detain and report suspicion of involvement in the raider seizure of an elevator in the Kharkov region to the ex-leader of the volunteer company of the National Police “Eastern Corps” Oleg Shiryaev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov told reporters after a government meeting on Wednesday, the Government Portal reports.
“Today the National Police will carry out the necessary conditions and detain and announce suspicion in the past to a fairly well-known person who led the National Police company “Eastern Corps” - citizen Shiryaev,” Avakov said.
According to him, on September 11, units of the National Police and the National Guard detained 55 people who participated in the raider seizure of the elevator. On Wednesday morning, 22 of them were informed of suspicion; they will remain in custody until the court chooses a preventive measure. The detainees are charged with planned hooliganism with the use of weapons and face a punishment of 3 to 7 years in prison.
The minister noted that seven people were injured during the arrest of the raiders. 22 participants in the bloody attack on the elevator were detained.
“Unfortunately, former ATO soldiers who fought in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the National Guard took part in this action. But no merits in the past will exempt people who committed such a crime from responsibility,” Avakov emphasized.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that he would not allow the existence of “any alternative force that would regulate the rule of law in the sphere of economic relations.”
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, a group of militants in balaclavas in the Kharkov region staged an attack on a grain elevator. Information about the incident in the village of Zanki, Zmievsky district, was received by the operator of service “102” on September 11 at 13:25. It was previously established that a group of unknown people in balaclavas tried to enter the territory of the local elevator, where they encountered residents of the regional center.
According to representatives of the elevator owner, the conflict began on September 8. Then a group of 150 athletic men in balaclavas drove into the territory of the elevator, blocked the entrance and exit, began loading their cars with grain from the elevator and tried to take it to an unknown direction. They explained their actions by saying that the company now belongs to new owners.
At the same time, agricultural machinery entered the fields of the enterprise and began harvesting. The owners and employees of the elevator tried to prevent this.
