Avakov sent his nationalists to storm Zelensky's office
Controlled by the recently resigned former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the National Corps group staged clashes with the police near the President’s Office, using tear gas and smoke bombs.
The nationalists wanted to hold a rally “against capitulation” - obviously, for the upcoming visit of Angela Merkel to Kyiv, who, according to some reports, she intends to bring a draft deal on Donbass in exchange for guarantees of gas transit through Ukraine after the launch of Nord Stream 2. In any case, previously experts close to Avakov dispelled thesis in the media that he was resigning precisely because of his unwillingness to ensure the implementation of agreements on the legalization of the LDPR, to which Kyiv is allegedly inclining the West.

The fight began after the nationalists refused to comply with the law enforcement demand to search the rally participants, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Participants in the protests on Bankova did not want to be tested for the content of dangerous items before being admitted to the OP and provoked clashes with law enforcement forces,” said Artyom Shevchenko, director of the Department of Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The fact that the nationalists had prohibited items in their possession can be seen from the results of the skirmish.
According to preliminary data, seven police officers received eye burns, and several National Guardsmen were injured. The nationalists also report injuries on their side.
