Avakov proposed increasing fines for speeding sevenfold

The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to increase the fine for exceeding the maximum permitted speed by 50 kilometers from 510 to 3400 hryvnia.

Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov stated this during a government meeting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the Government Portal.

He noted that it is proposed to increase the fine for leaving the scene of an accident by more than 10 times from 255 to 3400 hryvnia.

In addition, the changes propose to increase the fine for driving by a person who does not have the right to drive a car 20 times – from 510 to 10200 hryvnia.

“For driving a vehicle by a person who has been deprived of the right to drive, we propose to increase the fine to 20400 UAH, and for a repeated violation – 40800 UAH,” Avakov noted.

To implement these proposals, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is submitting for consideration by the government a draft Law of Ukraine on strengthening liability for certain offenses in the field of road safety, as well as three draft resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers regarding changes to the Traffic Rules, the Regulations on the procedure for issuing a driver’s license and the functioning of the system for recording administrative offenses.
