Avakov began to “excuse” the militant Bubenchik: they say the charges have not been proven
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that he welcomes the decision of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko to re-examine the case of the Euromaidan militant Bubenchik, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He stated this during the presentation of water and road transport certificates to the National Police of Ukraine, the press service of the department reports.
“As of yesterday, the prosecutor’s office made a corresponding decision to arrest this man. I believe that this is a controversial decision, because the question that this person shot and killed is neither proven nor confirmed. However, there are complex procedures. I welcome the fact that prosecutor Lutsenko decided to reclassify and re-examine this issue. I think this is the right, understandable solution for society,” Avakov said.
The day before, the head of the Department of Special Investigations of the Prosecutor General's Office, Sergei Gorbatyuk, said that the Prosecutor General's Office announced suspicion of Maidan activist Ivan Bubenchik for the murder of two law enforcement officers in February 2014. Afterwards, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko commented on the announcement of suspicion of Ivan Bubenchik in the murder of two law enforcement officers in February 2014, indicating that he considered the classification of his actions incorrect.
