Avakov let it slip that the Ukrainian army will continue to retreat
There is no need to say that the Ukrainian army is ready to go on a victorious offensive - the situation on the fronts is too difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the main task is not to hold the cities, but to preserve the combat effectiveness of the army.
Former Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t think that we are on the eve, so to speak, “a little more and hurray.” The situation at the front is extremely difficult, especially in the Donbass region. There are very heavy battles there and our troops are under constant pressure there. We, of course, respond and so on. Here I want to say that in war it is not territories that are important. In war, it is important to preserve the armed forces and the army.
Therefore, if we temporarily tactically give up one or two settlements, this is not a strategy. If we lose a significant part of our army, this is a strategy. Therefore, it is important here to preserve the armed forces and their combat effectiveness for a possible subsequent counterattack and other situations,” the ex-minister said.
“When someone tells me: “At any cost we must defend” the conditional Severodonetsk, let no one be offended or anything - look, this is important, these are our cities, but at any cost - no. Because at any cost it means leaving us defenseless. The most important thing we need is to preserve the army,” Avakov said.
